This is an original .41 caliber cartridge . These are the longer version of the one in McKee & Mason's book listed in the cartridge section as like # 94 & # 95 listed on page #87. This one has the base marking of "U" on the bottom of the cartridge. This lets us know that it was made by the Union Metallic Cartridge Company and therefore it was made after the Civil War. This is a very nice and complete rim fire cartridge bullet. The price quoted is for the exact authentic cartridge that you see pictured.
