This is a very fine original $2 Civil War note from the
state of Mississippi.
These were issued at Macon,
Mississippi on May 7th 1864 and are so marked in the
lower left hand corner. In the center of the note it has the likeness of a
beautiful sailing ship with the sails full of wind. Down in the lower left hand
corner is another image and this one is of a sailor with the spyglass in his
hand. This is the same sailor image that shows up on the Confederate $5 note.
The note is in very nice circulated condition as you can see. It has the
correct printed signature and the hand written serial number. The note comes in
an acid free holder for preservation and display. This is the version with the red
ink "TWO" printing on the face of the note. This overprint was added to help
prevent counterfeiting of the note. The overall size of the note measures 6.25
inches by 2.75 inches. This is a nice authentic Civil War dated note from the
state of Mississippi.
