GORGEOUS! 1862 Dated Confederate Virginia $50.00 Note with Governor James Mason
Click on an image to enlarge

This is an original 1862 dated Civil War $50 note from the state of Virginia. On the left hand side it has the image of Governor James M. Mason, who served as Governor of the state of Virginia. On the right hand side it has the scene of the Goddess Prosperity seated along with the other Goddesses Prosperity and Navigation. The note has the pretty orange "L" protector print inks which make this design stand out well. This was added to help prevent counterfeiting of the note. It is correctly hand signed in ink for the Treasurer and public accountant at the bottom of the note. On the top of the note it states "VIRGINIA TREASURY NOTE" and has the printed date of October 15th 1862. It also has the capitol and issuance location of Richmond, Virginia. The note is in very attractive almost uncirculated condition but displays well. This pattern of bill measures approximately 7.75 inches by 4 inches in overall size. It comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation. This is a beautiful Civil War dated $50.00 bill from the state of Virginia.
