This is a very scarce original Civil War currency from the
State of Florida.
This one is for the $10.00 denomination. It has The Tallahassee issue location
as well as the clear date of March 1st 1864 on the front of the
note. These notes were part of a $500,000 appropriation for the state of
Florida designed as relief for the families of Confederate soldiers. It is in
nice circulated condition and on the front of the note it is correctly hand
signed and numbered. The face has the likeness of a sailboat and in the lower
right hand side it has a slave carrying a basket of cotton. It has the pretty
orange-red tint "TEN" overprint
that is a classic trait on some Civil War Florida currency. This note has been professionally graded by the PMG Company and they have graded it as "Choice Very Fine" condition and they note that it is printed on "Exceptional Paper Quality". It comes in their acid free holder for preservation and
display. Florida Notes in any condition are tough to find and this one is a
nice looking one.
