This is an excellent reunion medal from the Grand Army of the Republic. The Grand Army of the Republic was the veteran's organization made up of Union veterans of the Civil War. This medal is for a soldier from the state of Ohio. The red ribbon has the "DELEGATE" designation. This lets us know it was worn by an actual veteran instead of being just a souvenir that anyone could buy. The top bar is the eagle design and the red ribbon. The lower medallion has the design with the image of Daniel Putnam. It also has the G.A.R. department marking of Ohio 23rd reunion information. The back of the lower medallion has the 1889 date and Dayton, Ohio location. This is a beautiful designed reunion medal in excellent shape.
