This is a nice and 100% authentic 1861 dated Confederate States of America savings bond. This is the style issued under the act of the Confederate Congress on August 19th 1861 in the $100 denomination. It is the style that has the likeness of the 2 females that are representing Commerce and Agriculture with the factory and the ships in the background at the top of the bond. This one has 16 of the original coupons attached at the bottom. When the date arrived that is printed on the bottom of the coupon you could cash it in for your interest payment. At the bottom edge of the top portion you can see the engraver's mark from the firm of Douglas of New Orleans. It is correctly hand signed and numbered by the Confederate Government officials in fine brown ink. This is the Confederate bond listed as Type B3 in the bond book by Ball and as CR6A in the book by Criswell. They issued 4,700 of this pattern of bond and this one is numbered "1363" in ink. This is a very attractive original Confederate states savings bond.
