This is a tough to find button. It is the coat button worn by the Hartford City Guard form Hartford, Connecticut. This is the version listed as figure CT23 in Albert's button book and CT256a4 in Tice's button book. This button is beautifully designed. There is a large stag deer in the center of the face crossing a stream that is encircled by an olive wreath. Across the top of the button it has the letters "H.C.G." for Hartford City Guard. The back of the button has the "SCOVILL MF'G CO, WATERBURY" maker's mark. It isn't often you get a chance to own a beautiful Hartford City Guard coat button like this so don't miss this beauty.
