This is a nice and 100% authentic 1863 dated Confederate States of America savings bond. This is the style issued under the act of the Confederate Congress on August 19th 1861 in the $100 denomination. It is the style that has the likeness of George W. Randolph. Randolph served as the Confederate Secretary of War from March until November in 1862. This one has 25 of the original coupons attached at the bottom. When the date arrived that is printed on the bottom of the coupon you could cash it in for your interest payment. At the bottom edge of the top portion you can see the printer's mark from the firm of B. Duncan of Columbia, South Carolina. It is correctly hand signed and numbered by the Confederate Government officials in fine brown ink with the hand written date of January 6th 1863. This one is signed by the register of the Confederate Treasury Robert Tyler. Tyler was the son of the 10th President of the United States John Tyler. This always makes a neat thing to point out when you show the bond to your friends. This is the Confederate bond listed as Type 107 in the Ball Confederate bond book and as CR-42 in the Criswell Bond Book. This is a very attractive original Confederate states savings bond.
