This is an excellent reunion medal from the Grand Army of the Republic. The Grand Army of the Republic was the veteran's organization made up of Union veterans of the Civil War. This medal is for a soldier from the state of Ohio. The lower medallion has the "DELEGATE BADGE". This lets us know it was worn by an actual veteran instead of being just a souvenir that anyone could buy. The top bar is the eagle design and the red ribbon. The lower medallion has the design with the image of Edwin Tiffin, the first Governor of Ohio. It also has the G.A.R. department marking of Ohio 31st reunion information on the front. The back of the lower medallion has the 1897 date and Chillicothe, Ohio location. This is a beautiful designed reunion medal in excellent shape.
