This is a nice displaying original of an Austro-Hungarian Cavalry Trooper's Sword, Model 1869. It is mounted with a large slightly curved, wide blade that measures 36-1/2 inches in length by 1 3/8 inches wide at the ricasso. The blade remains in very nice condition with only some minor surface stains and is well marked on either side of the ricasso. It has the maker marking of "S&K" which is that of Schnitzler & Kirschbaum of Solingen. It also has the remnants of the Austrian double headed eagle and the inspector initials of "GF". The metal parts of the sword have been chromed somewhere along the line. The sword has a large, narrow basket hilt which is pierced with seven symmetrical holes that remains in nice condition as well with only minor staining. The fishskin covered hilt is a bit weathered, nevertheless remains nice and tight. The heavy metal scabbard has some small working dings but does remain in very good serviceable condition. It has the mounts, throat and drag intact. This is a good looking sword and scabbard.
