Uniform Buttons of the U.S. Artillery & Navy Branches in Non-Excavated Condition

Cast White Metal Civil War Navy Coat Button Probable Confederate
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a great button. This is a cast version of the classic Civil War Navy uniform coat size button. It is believed that this is a Confederate soldi cast Civil War copy of the Union navy button. It has the eagle perched on the anchor on the front. Around the edge it has the stars on the lined background. This is the correct Civil War pattern with the tip of the anchor tucked behind the eagle's wing. The original back and shank are intact with a great look. It has black ink inscription on the reverse that states it was excavated on "WILLIAMSBURG ROAD". This is the style listed as copied the coat size version in Albert's button book as NA112 and is listed in Tice's button book with the Confederate Navy buttons as CSN272A1. This is a wonderful looking Civil War navy coat button and is the first of this style that I have ever been able to offer.
