Excellent Non-Excavated Alabama Volunteer Corps Coat Button AB3b
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a great looking and scarce coat size Civil War uniform button from the state of Alabama. This one would have been proudly worn by a member of the Alabama Volunteer Corps and it has the "AVC" letting at the top of the button stating that fact. It has the droop wing style eagle in the center of the button. The face has an excellent amount of the original gold wash remaining that gives it a superb look all over. On the back of the button it has the entire back present as well as a perfect shank. You can clearly read the correct Civil War era maker's mark of the Horstmann & Allien Company. This is the style listed as figure AB3B in Albert's button book and AB216a in Tice's button book. This is an excellent button all the way around.
