Authentic Civil War .58 Springfield Rifle Socket Bayonet With 7 Rivet Style Scabbard
Click on an image to enlarge
This is an original non-excavated socket bayonet for the Civil War Springfield military .58 caliber rifle. This one has a full-length blade with the "US" stamp still clearly visible at the base of the blade. The Socket has the original lockring present with the original screw intact. The back of the socket is slightly belt and will need a little work to be placed back on a gun. It is priced accordingly. This pattern was designed to fit the U.S. military rifles of the 1855, 1861 and 1863 patterns by Springfield or the muskets made by the contract makers either one. It has an attractive darker tone with a surface that will look fine on many of the guns that are out there. The bayonet is accompanied by a nice and original leather and brass scabbard. On the belt loop at the top it is the style that was attached using the 7 rivets and 6 of them are still present. This is generally a sign of being of late Civil War production. On the bottom of the scabbard it has the original scabbard tip present with the finial being lost to the ages. This bayonet and scabbard will be a solid addition to your gun or just for display by itself.
