Franklin & Washington Images Unissued $10 From New Orleans Canal Bank
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a true work of art as much as it is a bank note. It is an original $10 note from the Canal Bank in New Orleans, Louisiana. This one was never issued as you can tell by the blanks where the names and signatures would have gone. This note displays superbly and was never issued and it is from the pre-Civil War era as they were not printed after the Civil War. It has the cherubs with the Roman numeral "X" in the center with the oval images of bust views of Ben Franklin and George Washington. If you notice down in the bottom center of the note it has the "NEW ORLEANS" location of the bank. The back of the note has the beautiful orange-red ink tones with the four "10"'s flanking the eagle design with the "CANAL BANK" wording. You can tell that these notes were crafted like a work of art and not just printed as were so many of the pieces of the day. The note comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation. What a fantastic display piece!
