Superbly Marked Springfield Musket With Matching 1827 Production Dates
Click on an image to enlarge
This gun has a pleasing look! It is an original 1827 dated Springfield musket and is as clearly marked as one could ever hope for. These .69 caliber smoothbore muskets were heavily used during the Civil War by soldiers on both sides. These guns were what they had in the arsenals when the war broke out. This one has a beautiful walnut stock with excellent grain. As you can see the Walnut has a deep dark color all over. There are 2 small repairs to the wood behind the front barrel band that is mentioned for exactness and it is priced accordingly. On the opposite side of the lockplate the stock still has the cartouche stamps visible where it was approved for military use by the Government inspector. The lockplate has a vividly clear Springfield arsenal mark to go along with the Union eagle and the 1827 production date. The action still catches on both positions as it should. The barrel is full length with the correct inspector proof marks still being visible at the breech. On the tang of the barrel it has the clear and matching 1827 production date. It has a correct full-length original ramrod present in the channel underneath the barrel. Both of the original sling swivels are also present and they still pivot. This is a good looking gun for your relic room wall as you can see.
