This is a tough to find piece of Civil War money. It is an
original 50 cent bank note from the Bank of Columbus in Columbus, Georgia. In
the center of the note it has the large building design. The note is nice smaller
size and measures 4-3/4ths inches by 2-1/2 inches in size. It has the printed
issuance date of January 1862 in the lower left of the note. The note is in
nice well circulated condition. It is correctly hand signed and numbered in
nice old ink. What is so wonderful about this note is that the paper it was printed on was already printed on by another banking institution. Because of the demands for paper during the War, it was cheaper for the Georgia bank to get the used paper rather than to buy the new paper. The note is correctly hand Signed and numbered. The note is in circulated condition as you can see in the pictures. The note comes in an acid free holder for display and
preservation.
