This is a great Confederate currency document. This 6-5/8ths by 4 inch document was issued by the Confederate States of America from its Charleston, South Carolina office. These were given to purchasers before the actual bonds were issued. This is basically a receipt stating that the purchaser, The South West Railroad had purchased $100 worth of Confederate bonds. In return they had this piece of paper that would act as a bond paying 4% interest per year as approved by an Act of February 17th 1864. This one is in excellent condition with pre-printed paper and has the blanks filled in using dark bold ink. It is dated from March 18th 1864. This is a must have piece for any collector of Confederate currency.
