Scarce Original Inner Bag for a Civil War Soldier's Cotton Haversack
Click on an image to enlarge

This is fantastic and rare piece! It is an original inner bag for a Civil War soldier's cotton haversack in very pretty condition! There are many of the haversacks that are missing these so this is a scarce chance to replace yours if it is missing. This is the style that you often see referred to as the Massachusetts pattern since many of them were issued to troopers from that state during the Civil War. This one is pretty with a look that you can tell it saw service. The cotton has aged from white to a beautiful tan tone. The body of the inner bag of the haversack measures 10 inches across and is 8-3/4ths inches deep. It still has some ink stamps on the inner pouch that was probably the maker marking at one time area but I can't make it out. The haversacks are one of the toughest to find of all of the soldier's accoutrements. Don't miss your opportunity.
