Here is a cool looking sword from the 1830's. This is the style sword that is known to collectors as the "P" guard militia officer's sword. When you look at the brass hand guard there is no doubt why they have this name. This one has a beautiful untouched color all over. The backstrap has the floral pattern that accents it beautifully. The handle of the sword has the original 1-piece carved bone grip. The bone has a beautiful ancient milky tone all over. The blade measures 30-3/4ths inches with the very tip chipped off long ago. The blade still retains a beautiful amount of the detailed engraving on each side. It also retains a fine amount of the gold wash that was applied at the factory to make the engraving stand out. The center of the front side of the blade has the beautiful Union eagle with the "E PLURIBUS UNUM" motto. This is Latin for "Of Many, One". The sword is accompanied by the majority of the original scabbard. The scabbard is made of leather and brass. The middle mount and drag at present with the throat missing in action. The leather body of the scabbard has a nice old look all over. This is your opportunity to own a cool etched blade militia officer's sword & scabbard.
