It isn't often that you see Civil War dated newspapers from the state of California. The state wasn't heavily populated so there weren't a lot of people to sell the papers to in the first place. Those that were printed didn't have a high survival rate. This is the daily evening bulletin from San Francisco and is a nice large 2 page paper that measures 13 inches by 27 inches in overall size. This one is an original and the fragile paper has some tears and chips round the edges but the print is still very legible and very interesting. This one is dated from June 15th 1863. It has lots of articles including the news of Robert E. Lee's Army crossing the river and entering the North and is just before the battle of Gettysburg. Another tells of the noose closing in around Vicksburg, Mississippi. There are many more articles as well as some cool advertisements. This is a nice original Civil War newspaper from California.
