This is a true work of art as much as it is a bank note. It
is an original $5 note from the Canal & Banking Company in New Orleans, Louisiana. This one
was printed and never issued. This note displays superbly and it is
from the pre-Civil War era as they were not printed after the Civil War. It has
the angel-goddess like scene in the center with them sitting on and around the
"5". It also has the famous bust view of Benjamin Franklin on the left hand
side. If you notice down in the bottom center of the note it has the "NEW ORLEANS" location of the bank. The back of the
note is unmarked and that is referred to by collectors as the note being "uniface". You can tell that these notes were crafted like a
work of art and not just printed as were so many of the pieces of the day. The
note comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation. The overall
size of the note measures 7-1/2 inches by 3-1/4th inches in size. What a fantastic
display piece!
