REBEL GANG! Confederate Copy of A .44 Caliber Colt Gang Mold

WOW! I bought a collection the other day and it had this jewel hidden in there. Up on 1st glance, it was the usual "gang" style bullet mold made by Colt for the model 1860 army model revolvers. This one is well made for what they had to work with but the quality is no where near that of the Colt Company. It is made to cast 6 .44 caliber Colt style bullets for a revolver. The last several images show how this mold compared to a standard Colt made mold. The bullets are more of a domed top than Colts. When you see them side by side, it is clear this isn't a Colt product. It is completely unmarked except for the remnants of a number stamped on the side of the body. The digits are small in size and very similar to those found on Leech revolvers. The body is made of cast iron as is the sprue cutter and you can see the casting imperfections and the hand finishing marks. It is complete except for the screw on the sprue cutter which was lost to the ages. On the handles of the mold, it has both of the original wooden handles with the copper end covers intact. The handles are longer than those made by Colt. This is one Hell of a mold! Don't miss it!
