Absolutely Beautiful Very High Grade Civil War Cavalry Officer Saber
Click on an image to enlarge
This is one of the most beautiful swords that I have ever been able to offer. This is a wonderful original Civil War high grade cavalry officer's saber in the original scabbard. The blade is full-length at 33 inches. It is wonderfully crafted with the Tri colored blade that has a lower wide fuller with the slender top fuller. It is adorned with alternating panels of gilt highlighted etching on a blue field and etched white panels. The brass of the three branch hand guard and pommel cap are heavily gold gilded. They have the floral pattern to the brass that lets us know the sword was designed for an officer and not an enlistedman. On the handle of the sword, it has the wooden core with the original sharkskin grip intact. The sharkskin is adorned with the spring style copper wire that is flanked on each side by a single strand of brass wire. Accompanying the sword is the massive and impressive original scabbard. The scabbard is made entirely of brass. The brass body of the scabbard is profusely engraved chased and embellished from top to bottom. The mounts of the sword scabbard are heavy detailed brass mounts with the original rings intact. Between the mounts it has the scene showing a panoply of arms including shields, flags and swords. This one is complete unmarked so that the retailer could sell it without advertising for the actual maker. This one is simply beautifully crafted with a gorgeous look!
