This is a gorgeous original Confederate belt buckle. It is the version listed as Plate #009 in the revised edition of Confederate belt Buckles & Plates by Steve Mullinax. This pattern is known to collectors as the "Virginia" pattern of two piece sword belt buckle. Most of this pattern was manufactured in the Richmond, Virginia area. The bold C.S. letters on the buckle tongue can be seen from across the room. This one is in beautiful non-excavated condition and has no restoration of any kind. It even has the matching "II" Roman numerals scratched into the back of each piece. The belt buckle is accompanied by the original leather belt. The leather on the wreath side has the classic Richmond style "Bullet" stitching. It even has a small portion of one of the leather hangers still hanging on. This is a superb looking piece that any collector would appreciate.
