Original Civil War Eagle Sword Belt Buckle on Buffalo Leather Belt
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a very fine looking original Civil War swordbelt and buckle. This is the style belt that is made out of the buffalo hide leather. The leather on this one is still nice and pliable. It has the original brass belt length adjuster present as well as the leather slide. The hangers for the sword themselves are present as well as the over the shoulder strap which is almost always missing. The plate is the cast version with the beautiful Union eagle in the center. Above her it has the ribbon that has the "E PLURIBUS UNUM" lettering and stars above that. This is the version that has the applied 1-piece German silver wreath below the eagle. On the back of the buckle the original keeper hook is present. The buckle bench number is "808" and the keeper number is made with the same matching number and they look beautiful together. This is a very attractive original Civil War belt buckle on a fine buff leather belt that displays much better than most of the ones that you encounter.
