Click on an image to enlarge

This is a great little button! It is the 15mm button for the 2nd Infantry regiment. This is the style that is has the large number "2" in the center of the button. They also have the distinctive French style "turret" shank. This one is missing the original shank off of the the reverse. In Don Troiani's book on Revolutionary War button this pattern is listed as F2.d. He tells that this stands for the Picardie or Champagne Regiments. In 1779, the unit was at the Siege of Savannah, Georgia and he states that they were also at Yorktown in 1781. It will enhance any Revolutionary War artifact collection.
