This is a fine looking original Civil War officer's sword & scabbard. This is the nice version that looks like the standard foot officer's sword except in the floral brass hand guard it has the small "US" letters like the staff & field officer's swords. This pattern is tougher to find than the standard staff officer's swords of the day. The blade is acid-etched with a pair of stands of drums, cannons, and flags topped by American flag banners, a sheaf of arrows radiating from a central point, foliates, and an oval of 12 stars around a larger 13th with 6 points to the obverse and a depiction of a woman, possibly the personification of hope, with an anchor in one hand and a bundle of arrows, again radiating from one point, in the other, another oval of 12 stars around a larger 13th 6-pointed star, foliates, a large "US," and a masonic square and compass with the letter "G" to the reverse. The blade has a gray tone all over and as you can see in the pictures. Even though there is no maker marking, this sword is definitely made by the firm of Henry Sauerbier of Newark, New Jersey. The brass of the guard and pommel cap has a wonderful color to the brass. The original handle is intact with a fine look to the leather grip triple strand wire wrap with the central strand twisted. The sword is accompanied by the original scabbard. The scabbard is the version that has the steel body with the ornate brass mounts and drag. This is a fine looking original etched blade Civil War staff & field officer's sword with a cool look all over.

Items can be shipped UPS or USPS Priority Mail. Tennessee residents must include 9.75% sales tax. All items are 100% GUARANTEED. If for any reason you are unhappy with the relic just return it UNALTERED within 5 days for a refund minus shipping charges and restocking fee of 6%. Layaways can be arranged on items over $100. Layaway terms are; 1/3 down and 1/3 in 30 days with balance due in full in 60 days. Due to time factors there are no refunds or price discounts on layaways.
