Here is a tough to find bond. This is the pattern of Confederate bond that was issued by the Confederate Government under the Act of February 11th 1864. It was to cover a $15,000,000 loan to finance the Southern cause. This is a smaller size bond that features the image of the Confederate sailing ships. This pattern is listed as CR140 in Criswell's bond book and as B285 in Ball's book on Confederate bonds. It was printed by Evans and Cogswell and is so marked in the lower left hand corner of the main bond section. They printed the bond on "CSA" watermarked paper and you can clearly see the watermark. This one is in superb unissued condition and even has the original receipt portion on the left hand side. Including the receipt portion that piece measures 8-3/8ths inches by 3-1/2 inches in overall size. It has been professionally authenticated and graded by the PMG Company and they rated it's condition as being "Extremely Fine" and they note that it it is printed on "EPQ" that stands for Exceptional Paper Quality. This fine original piece of Confederate history comes in their acid free holder for display and preservation.
