Original example of the tough to find 1864 dated Confederate States of America $1.00 note. This was issued from Richmond, Virginia on February 17th 1864. These weren't very useful when they were new because of the low value of Confederate Money by 1864 they wouldn't have enough value to buy anything. In the center of the note is Clement C. Clay who was Governor of Alabama and then a Confederate Senator from Alabama. It is the pattern listed in Criswell's currency book as T-71. This note is in attractive circulated condition. It is hand signed and numbered in ink. It comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation.
