Beautiful Original Civil War Painted Eagle Style Regimental Drum
Click on an image to enlarge

This is a beautiful artifact that we are proud to offer. It is a gorgeous original Civil War painted regimental snare drum. This one stands out no matter what it is displayed beside. It stands 11-1/2 inches tall and measures 16-1/2 inches across the head. The body of the drum has the spectacular painted Union eagle in the center. This is one of the ones that have been trimmed down. They cut them in half, height wise, in order to make two drums out of one. The used the body half that was trimmed off with new heads instead of making an entirely new drum. According to some very knowledgeable friends there are some orders out there where they were instructed to do this. By the way it was cut, you can see the top of the red white and blue shield in the center of the eagle's chest. The eagle has the ribbon design coming out of her beak. It has been hand painted "Regt. U.S. INFANTRY" in great white paint. Above the ribbon it has the rays with the stars below. All of this is set on a blue base background that makes the detail stand out even more. The drum heads are present. The drum is held together by the ropes and tugs that have been restored. When you look through the percussion hole on the side you are greeted by the remnants of the original paper maker's label on the inside. This drum is a thing of beauty as well as superb craftsmanship that costs less than half of what a mint one can cost these days. Don't miss this beauty.
