This set is absolutely gorgeous. This is a fine early cased Beaumont-Adams five-shot double action percussion revolver. This one was retailed by E.M. Reilly of Oxford Street of London and is so marked across the top of the barrel. The gun has matching serial numbers of 16813R on the frame and the cylinder. This gun is designed to fire a bullet of .442 caliber or in English terms a 54 bore gauge bullet from the full-length 5-7/8ths inch octagonal barrel. The gun has all of the correct London proof marks to go along with the engraved markings on the top of the frame and barrel that read "Deane, Adams & Deane. No. 30 King William St. London Bridge." With this mark and the serial number we know that this production is correct for our Civil War timeframe. Guns near this range have even been known to have been delivered to the Confederacy. The gun is absolutely stunning with the original vibrant blued finish. It still retains the original safety on the right-hand side of the frame. The single piece checkered walnut grip is intact and is in superb condition. The gun is encased in the very fine green-lined oak case. The interior of the lid has the original paper trade label. It proudly states that they were "Gunmakers to H.R.H. (His Royal Highness) Prince Albert". The gun is accompanied in the case by the original accessories that include a scarce brass Adams style two-cavity bullet mold, powder flask and oiler, cleaning rod and Eley marked percussion cap tin. The mold is clearly and appropriately marked with a 54 (indicating 54-bore) on the side and is additionally stamped by Adams. As you can see this set is gorgeous from all angles.
