Beautiful rown Crock Civil War Era "Master" Style Inkwell With Maker Mark
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a very nice Civil War era "master" ink bottle. These are larger size crock style bottles that were used to fill up the smaller inkwells you so often see. It has beautiful darker brown color crockery with the classic spout style top. It stands about 6 inches tall and is 2-1/2 inches wide. On the lower portion of the bottle you can still see part of the maker's mark. England is where most of the higher quality pieces like this one were made. The bottle is in very fine display shape with only light wear and great color.
