Early 1800's Pistol Cartridge Box With 24 Tin Cartridge Compartments
Click on an image to enlarge
Here is a neat looking cartridge box from the early 1800's. This is the small cartridge box that held the cartridges for a pistol. It has the leather body that measures 5-1/2 inches by 4 inches by 2 inches in overall size. In the innermost compartment, it has the small tin tubes for holding the cartridges. They measure .65 inches across so the cartridges they held would have been about .60 caliber or so. The box is completely unmarked and is made of nice black leather. The outer flap is partially separated but displays nicely. It has the closure tab present but the finial is missing off of the bottom of the box. On the reverse, it has one of the original belt loops remaining and it is separated on the bottom. This is a very cool little box that displays well.
