Nicely Priced Confederate 1862 $1,000 Bond with Secretary Memminger CR#102

This is a great looking original Confederate States of America savings bond from 1862. Issued from the Confederate Treasury at Richmond, Virginia it is hand signed and numbered in fine old brown ink and dated October 4th 1862. This one was issued for $1,000 and paid 8% interest. In the center of the bond itself it has the likeness of one of the most important men in the Confederate Government, Christopher G. Memminger. He was the Secretary of the Confederate treasury from 1861 till 1864. Under his guidance the Confederate currency was designed and printed. The edges of the top portion have ornate designs with the $1,000 denominations. In the center of the top it has the marking stating that it was printed in Richmond, Virginia by D. Duncan Company. At the bottom of the bond there are 36 of the interest coupons remaining. This is the style listed as CR-102 in the Confederate bond book by Criswell and as #135 in Ball's book on Confederate bonds. There were only 3,457 of these bonds issued by the Confederacy and this one is 2,857. This is a nice displaying original Confederate savings bond that will look great when it is nicely framed up on you office or relic room wall.
