Original Pigskin Leather Smith & Wesson Army .32 Revolver Holster
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a neat piece! It is an original Civil War era leather holster. This is the version that was made for a .32 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver with the 6 inch barrel length. This is their model known to collectors as the "Old Model" army Smith & Wesson These revolvers were used by well-to-do- officer's of the Union army including Custer and U.S. Grant. The leather is still in well worn shape as you can see but still displays quite well. It has the full flap intact and the finial was lost long ago. On the back of the holster it was made with the two slits instead of the regular belt loop. This and the pigskin leather material help add a good case for it being Southern made but we can't say for sure. The last pictures show how a gun would look in the holster. This will make a nice addition to your .32 Smith & Wesson revolver if you don't have one.
