Buckles
Beautiful Chancellorsville, Virginia Excavated Civil War U.S. Belt Buckle
Click on an image to enlarge

This is a fine excavated belt buckle. This is the classic style that was worn by the regular fighting men of the Civil War. This is the version that has the arrow style belt attachment hooks on the reverse. This one still has all three of the original hooks intact and in fine shape. This one is in nice excavated condition. It has the majority of the original lead. The brass face of the plate has a crystal clear and bold "US" lettering. The verbal history that accompanied the buckle is that it was recovered in the area of the Battle of Chancellorsville that was fought from April 30 to May 6, 1863, in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. This buckle was part of the museum like collection of Frank Davido, who was a past president of the Northern Virginia Relic Hunters Association. This is a nice excavated Civil War from Virginia.
