Group of 6 Medals From the Women's Relief Corps Organization Limpert Collection

Here is a nice group of 6 pieces of history from the Civil War veteran organizations. The Woman's Relief Corps (WRC) is a charitable organization in the United States, originally founded as the official women's auxiliary to the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) in 1883. The organization was designed to assist the GAR and provide post-war relief to Union veterans. The GAR had been created as a "fraternal" organization and refused to allow women to join up until the creation of this auxiliary. It is largely dedicated to historical preservation of research and official documentation related to the WRC and GAR. These are from the collection of noted collector Don Limpert (1927-2022). Don Limpert was a long-time collector of memorabilia from the veterans of the Civil War with an emphasis on the Grand Army of the Republic, the Union veterans of the Civil War organization. He saw the possibilities of combining his vast collection of GAR memorabilia with an original Grand Army of the Republic post building that was available to purchase in downtown Eaton Rapids, Michigan. He purchased the building in 2012, and the building became the Michigan Grand Army of the Republic Memorial Hall and Museum. After his passing in 2022, his collection was sold and now is your chance to own a piece of that astounding collection. They are all on his display cards and they make a fine set for a relic room.
