Letter to Colt Firearms From the Chief Clerk at Watervliet Arsenal in 1863

Here is an original letter dated July 24th 1863 that was written by Thomas M. Deane who was the chief clerk at the Watervliet Arsenal. He is writing the company asking if they will provide him with a silver finished .31 Colt revolver. He says that the navy model was too large for his pocket. He says that her has friends that would like the regular blued finish revolvers. At the end of the letter, he adds that he would like to get the accessories for the gun or "... at least a bullet mold". The letter measures 10 inches by 8-1/4th inches in overall size. This is a cool letter sent to Colt.
