VERY COOL IMAGE! 1861 Confederate $500 Bond With Mother & Children
Click on an image to enlarge
This one has a very cool scene at the top! This one was issued by the Confederate Government for the amount of $500. It is hand issue dated from December 12th 1861 from Richmond, Virginia. At the top of the bond, it has the image of the the mother and three children and the family in the vignette gazes upon a safe labeled, "Confederate States Treasury." This one has the low serial number of 67 and they only issued 866 of this type of bond. This one is signed by the register of the Confederate Treasury Robert Tyler. Tyler was the son of the 10th President of the United States John Tyler. This always makes a neat thing to point out when you show the bond to your friends. It has a few small internal splits and an ink spot but displays quite well. This is the pattern that is listed in the Ball book as B-43 and in Criswell's book as CR-53. A great looking bond!
