Small Size 1864 Dated $1000 Confederate Savings Bond Redeemable at Raliegh

This is a scarce authentic 1864 dated Confederate States of America $1,000.00 savings bond certificate. It was authorized to be printed by the Act of the Confederate Congress that was approved on February 17th 1864 and is so marked in the upper center of the bond wording. Along the bottom it states that it was issued on August 31, 1864. This is the style that has the simple printing on the pink tone paper. This is the style listed as CR-162 in the Confederate bond book. This one has written across the back "Payable on demand at this office only" and states the location of Raleigh, North Carolina and has the date of January 31, 1865. That's very optimistic that there would be anything to collect that late in the war. The Raleigh North Carolina bank was one of the last Confederate banks to stay out of Yankee hands. The certificate measures approximately 5 inches by 6.25 inches in overall size. It is in very nice condition with everything being very clearly legible. This will make a fine display as it is or it will look even better framed up on you office or relic room wall.'
