What a great looking gun! This is a 9mm Centerfire cartridge revolver that fires 6 shots from the full-length 5 inch barrel. It has a beautiful look with the blued metal finish including the octagonal barrel. It has the original lanyard loop to butt of the handle with the very detailed checkered hardrubber grips with deep relief grotesque masks to butt and serpents above fastening screw escutcheons. Double action six-shot loading gate revolver mounting dovetailed front blade and topstrap rear notch sights. Topstrap is engraved and gold inlaid with the maker name C. STIEGELE JUN. MUNCHEN. Item shows some light spiral scroll engraving to the rear sight notch, and border scroll to the muzzle and forward frame.Carl Anton Stiegele established his Munich based firearms business in 1854, after a previous venture had ended dismally. Despite this, his business flourished in a new city, and he was soon manufacturing extraordinarily elaborate rifles for wealthy clients from as far afield as Moscow and even Japan.
