CHOICE UNCIRCULATED! 1864 Dated Confederate $1.00 Note with Clement Clay
Click on an image to enlarge
Here is an excellent original example of the tough to find 1864 dated Confederate States of America $1.00 note. This was issued from Richmond, Virginia on February 17th 1864. These weren't very useful when they were new because of the low value of Confederate Money by 1864 they wouldn't have enough value to buy anything. In the center of the note is Clement C. Clay who was Governor of Alabama and then a Confederate Senator from Alabama. It is the pattern listed in Criswell's currency book as T-71. This note is in gorgeous condition and has been professionally graded by the PCGS Company and they rated it as "Choice Uncirculated" and has the desirable "PPQ" marking denoting that the note was printed on Premium Paper Quality. It is hand signed and numbered in ink. It comes in the PCGS acid free holder for display and preservation.
