This is a very desirable $50 version of the Confederate States of America banknote. It has the likeness of Confederate President Jefferson Davis in the center. This is the one listed as figure T-57 in Criswell's book on Confederate currency. It was issued in April 6th 1863 and is so dated just below the bust view of President Davis. It has the beautiful green overprint on the face of the note. This one has the stamped serial numbers printed on each side of the President. The back of the note has the beautiful green pattern print with "THE CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA" along with two "50" numbers flaking the lettering. The note is correctly hand signed on each side by the register and treasurer's signers. It has the hammer cut "X" markings in the paper where it was marked by the Confederate Government when it was taken out of circulation. This process is known as "Cut Cancellation". This fine original piece of Confederate history was professionally graded by the PMG Company and they have rated it as being "Choice About Uncirculated" Condition. The note comes in the PMG acid free holder for display and preservation.
