Great Looking Model 1867 Navy Model Remington Military Single Shot

This is a tough to find gun! It is the single shot military pistol made by the famous Remington Firearms Company of Ilion, New York. It is officially known to collectors as the Remington Model 1867 Navy Rolling Block Pistol. According to Flayderman and only made them in the early 1870's and exact quantities are unknown. They fire a .50 caliber centerfire cartridge from the full-length 7 inch barrel. This barrel still retains a very trace amount of the original rifling from the factory. On the breech of the barrel it has the extra inspector marks as well as the anchor stamping where it was marked as being part of the US Navy inventory. It has the anchor marking with the "I" and "H.E.". These are the initials of Henry Erben, who was a Commander in the Navy who inspected the gun. The left hand side of the frame has the clear Remington maker's mark and production location as well as the 1864 and 1866 patent dates. On the right hand side it has the "P" proof stamp to go along with the "F.C.W." inspector initials of Frank C. Warner. The action of the gun works fluidly on all positions. On the handle of the gun it has had the original 1-piece walnut grip with the inspector cartouche stamp still visible. There is the "F.C.W." inspector initials of Frank C. Warner.
