Very Cool Wharton's Brigade report Signed by Colonel George St. Leger Greenfell

Here is a very cool document signed by a Confederate with a very interesting history! This is a hand written inspection report of a Confederate campsite of General Wharton's Brigade while camped at Unionville (Tennessee) dated March 31st 1863. The report states that the Confederate not taking care of their horses at all. He took several away stating that "...I have never saw poor animals so scandalously neglected." In the upper left hand corner, it has the hand written amounts of regiments which included Texas, Alabama and Georgia. In the lower right hand corner, it has the vividly clear of Greenfell and he notes his rank of Colonel and Inspector General of the Confederacy. George St. Leger Grenfell (May 30, 1808 – March 1868?) was a British mercenary, of the Cornish family, who claimed to have fought in Algeria, in Morocco against the Barbary pirates, under Garibaldi in South America, in the Crimean War, and in the Sepoy Mutiny. Immigrating to the United States, he fought for the Confederacy during the American Civil War, and was a leader of a notorious plot to seize control of parts of the Northern U.S. After the Civil War, he was captured and sent to Fort Jefferson outside of Key West and imprisoned with Dr. Mudd. This is a vey interesting document from a very interesting Confederate.
