Here is a great piece for your wall. This is an original Michigan Sharpshooters Memorial Print. The veterans would buy these to decorate their walls or the walls of the reunion halls. This one is a 16 inch by 20 inches in it overall size. This one was printed by J. C. Fuller of Baltimore and is so marked along the bottom edge. Along the top, it has the "Soldier's Memorial" and the beautiful scenes. In the center it proudly reads "1st Independent Company Michigan Sharp Shooters, 1st Brigade, 1st Division, 9th Army Corp." It has the names of the men that served and notations like "Wounded at the Battle of Spotsylvania". The 1st Michigan Sharpshooters was organized at Kalamazoo and Dearborn, Michigan, between April 14 and October 7, 1863, and six companies were mustered into Federal service on July 7, 1863, to serve three years. They saw a lot of service that includes the Battle of the Wilderness, Battle of Spotsylvania Court House, Battle of Cold Harbor, the Siege of Petersburg and the Appomattox Campaign. The paper has been trimmed, and it was mounted to board for reinforcement because of the wear and tears. This is a tough to find piece from a hard fighting regiment of sharpshooters.
