This is a great looking piece of history from the Grand Army of the Republic. The Grand Army of the Republic or G.A.R. was the organization made up of Union Survivors of the Civil War. They held reunion and erected monuments to the men that fought for the north during the Civil War. This medal was to commemorate the 1923 reunion of the G.A.R. that was held in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The top bar says Grand Rapids, Michigan on the top bar. The medallion has the G.A.R seal and the ribbon is red with gold lettering of "Delegate Grand Rapids June 6-7-8 1923. The original pin is on the reverse of the top bar. The ribbon displays well with minimal fraying and wear. This is an excellent medal for any collection.
