Here is one that you don't see often. This is an original Williamson's Patent single shot Derringer pistol. These were made from 1866 until 1870 and they only produced 10,000 of them. Flayderman states that they show up with serial numbers up to 20,000. You see this some time when they wanted it to look like they made more than they did. The gun fires a single shot .41 caliber rimfire metallic cartridge from the full-length 2-1/2 inch barrel. It has the stamped serial number of 6312. It left the factory with a blued metal finish with silver plated frame and triggerguard. It has the3 1-piece walnut wood birdshead stock with the ornate bordered checkered butt and engraved embellishments. These single shot single-action derringer pistol had an interesting way of loading. You pull the hammer back to half cock for safety and then you push the lever under the barrel which allows the barrel to slide forward. It has the original front blade sight intact. The left side of the barrel is struck with the "WILLIAMSON'S PAT. OCT. 2. 1866 NEW YORK" maker marking and production location. The top part of the barrel is engraved with an {Arrow} mark to instruct users in basic operation. The frame and triggerguard feature spiral scrollwork with sunburst to the forward part of the frame. This is a cool looking gun that has a lot of character.
