Rare Original Civil War Musician's Sword by Collins & Company
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a rare version of original musician's pattern sword from the Civil War. On the base of the front of the blade is the maker's mark of the famous firm of Collins & Company of Hartford, Connecticut. In John Thillman's book on Army swords he states that he only knows of one of the Collins musician sword and there isn't even one pictured in the book. He states that there was only 1,000 of them ordered in June 1862. On this one, you can see part of the maker's marking but you can no longer see the 1862 production date. The blade has a fine looking untouched color with a pretty look. It is still full-length at 26 inches. The guard, grip and pommel cap are present with an attractive dark attic one to the brass. The sword is missing the scabbard as they so often are because it would have been made of the fragile leather and brass. This is your chance at a rare version of Civil War musician's sword.
