English Royal Artillery Uniform Button from the Revolutionary War Era
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a great looking war of 1812 period artillery button of the British Artillery. This is the pattern that is illustrated as figure Bra.h. on page 12 of the Don Troiani book on Revolutionary War buttons. He states that this pattern saw use from 1785 forward and the construction of this one is for an enlisted man. It has the sunken style Norman shield with the three cannon stacked up with three cannon balls at the top. This button is the 24.5mm version and it displays superbly from all angles as you can see. The original shank is present on the reverse of the button. This is a great colonial period English Artillery button.
